About

Kayla Suzanne Holdgreve (b. 1989) is a photographer and archivist from Ohio. She received a BFA in Photography from Columbus College of Art and Design, and received her MFA in Photography from Ohio University. With the use of photography, family archives and text, Holdgreve explore ideas of home, autobiography and memory. She often manipulates her negatives and prints, as well as includes the use of dirt from specific familial locations. When using expired films, papers and non-archival materials, she likes to think about how preservation as well as the deteriorating image can reflect our experience with memory. She currently lives in the Bay Area, California, and works as an archivist at UC Berkeley.
